What is a Call Me Back?

This is a service that allows an Econet subscriber to send a please call me back request via sms to another Econet or Call Home number free of charge.

 

How do I send a Call Me Back message?

Option 1: Dial *555* mobile number # on their mobile phone and wait for a confirmation message. e.g. *555*0772XXXXXX#

Option 2: Dial *140# >> select Option 2- Call Me Back >> enter the mobile number (0772XXXXXX) that you want to send a “call me back” to and wait for a confirmation message to pop-up on the screen.

  • Call Home line >> call waiting (without entering the SA country code).
  • You are limited to 5 Call Me Backs every 24hrs and the service is valid for Econet to Econet numbers only. The limit is 3 Call Me Backs for every 24hrs to Call Home lines.

Can I send a Call Me Back to numbers on other networks?

No. You can only send Call Me Backs to Econet numbers and Call Home lines only.

How do I know if my Econet line is active or not active for the Call Me Back service?

Econet lines are automatically active for the Call Me Back service.

How do I activate my line for the Call Me Back service?

  1. Econet lines are automatically active for the Call Me Back service.
  2. You are limited to 5 Call Me Backs every 24hrs and the service is valid for Econet to Econet numbers only.

I am trying to send a Call Me Back but the response is “You have reached your Daily Limit” or “Daily Limit has been exceeded”.

  1. Please note that the Call Me Back limit is 5 every 24hrs for all Econet lines and 3 Call Me Backs if sending to a Call Home number.
  2. Once you exceed the daily limit you will only be able to send the next day or after 24hrs.

I keep receiving continuous Call Me Backs from a specific number.

Please call 111 or 119 or visit an Econet shop near you for assistance.

How do I deactivate the Call Me Back Service from my Econet line?

Please note that all Econet lines are automatically active for the service and cannot be deactivated at this point.
